History of YMCA The very beginning of the Young Men's Christian Association occurred in the last century when, during the indutrial revolution in England, young men from the country were pouring into the city of London to work in factories. Here they found thenselves alone in a strange and often dangerous environment. In 1844 a young man named George Williams realizing his own need for friends and the company of fellow Christians, started prayer and fellowship for his fellow workers. Within a few months he and eleven others had formerd a society which they named the Young Men's Christian Association. And now the YMCA Hotels in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand for fellow travellers.
